Should you train to failure and how often?

This is a topic of conversation on a lot of people’s lips and guys who train a lot love training to failure. It can be really beneficial but it is certainly not a necessity in every single workout.

So you want to grow muscle, Get bigger arms, fill out your t shirts and feel confident with your top off. In order to do this you want to be continuing to make progress over time. With this can come adding on extra weights and reps when you aren’t ready for it. Or just generally aiming to make the next workout harder than the last.

But when we train like this your levels of fatigue will also increase too. By allowing your body to recover properly through adequate nutrition, rest days and sleep etc. You are able to manage this fatigue and continue to make steady progress over time.

If you start training to failure every single session you are going to start to build up fatigue faster, yes there is a time and a place for when you should train to failure but be careful how often you do this in the week. You want to be able to recover right in time for your next workout.

Your workouts should be tough yes but think about this, a lot of the time it’s about stimulation of the muscle not annihilation.
